out and about

Whew! The sickness has passed! Unfortunately not in time for me to make my yoga class, but hey! at least I can swallow!

Last week was a bit of a whirl and I am just now breaking the surface of normality again. Rather than bore you with photos of the wedding (I'm sure my sister will ensure more than enough of that) here are a few glimpses of Mother and I in our walking tour of DC, in it's entirety....

At the Women's Memorial at Arlington National Cemetary:

The Lincoln Memorial: (a bajillion steps)

The Korean War Memorial (my personal favorite):

One of the cool flowers at the Botanical Gardens:

AND Mother being dwarfed by the Capitol Building and some guy on a horse:

Boy, did we have a good time!

the garden of virginia

I've said it before and I'll say it again - Virginia is gorgeous in the Spring! Every day there is a new flower popping out to say good morning! Here's a little taste of what Beulah and I are seeing right now on our daily morning walk:

Isn't it pretty? This state never ceases to amaze me when it comes to green grass and trees and flowers everywhere, all the time! It makes me feel like a whiner wishing for the beach so much! Hands down, this is the prettiest Spring I've seen in a long time.

the place i live

As April speeds by, North Virginia is showing its true colors. Having moved here under a year ago, every season has shown me something new to like about this area so far. However, Spring has won, hand down, thus far. Spring here means all the nursery rhymes you ever heard; blooming trees, daffodils, tulips, mild days and nights, rain (lots of rain) and the most beautiful sunny days you've ever seen. It's been a long time since I've seen this kind of seasonal change and I am enjoying every minute of it.

friday cont.

Just another shot of some of the pretty flowers on our morning walk. Spring is here for sure and DC residents are enjoying it, despite the potential pending government shut-down. I'm personally interested to see what will happen if, well, it happens! It will be like one big vacation for the whole city! Happy Friday all!

spring flowers = crochet?

Spring is officially here! This morning it was warm enough for me to sit outside and have my morning cup of coffee and everywhere I looked things were blooming.

Like this tree full of little white blossoms starting to open:

All this spring weather and the pretty colors popping up everywhere have got me crocheting granny squares for a scheme I am mulling over in my skull.

Oh this is my favorite! Is this a tulip tree? It is so darn pretty! And the blossoms... the blossoms are as big as my fist!

I can hardly contain myself when I wake up in the morning to sunshine and flowers! In the evening I work on these little buggers and wonder if my project will work out the way I see it in my head.

And well, I just can't help but post one last gratuitous shot of those gorgeous blossoms!

Happy Spring!

I snapped these shots this morning as Beulah and I took our morning walk. My favorite flowers! They made me smile :)

waiting for spring

I'm officially tired of Winter. So tired, in fact, that I've had to start some wishful Spring knitting. Maybe a cardigan in a pretty green will help me be patient while Spring takes its own sweet time lollygagging on its way here!

I sure hope so!
